The documenta is the world’s most significant exhibition of art. It takes place in Kassel every 5 years. Now in 2017 it is time again. Sapato and KangaROOS pay tribute to this institution of temporary art by producing a strictly limited D14 sneaker. As inhabitants of the city the Sapato-guys inteded quite early in their career to realize a project that had the power to unite the sneaker- and art-scene. KangaROOS is well-known for its highest quality, handmade in Germany sneakers. Apart from this the „ROOS“ also have a background in arts as the owner Bernd Hummel is a passionate collector and supporter. So the decision was easy. Both partners considered it to be most important that their collaboration wasn’t just pieces of leather you could walk in. It has to be seen as a wearable commitment to art. The „D14“ is a combination of the models Coil R-1 and Ultimate, what makes it a hybrid. Material wise only the best leathers have been used in manufacturing the D14. The upper is made of 100% calf velour, perforated and embossed in the city of Pirmasens, home of KangaROOS. Mudguard and heel carry structured grain. The midsole has a light rosé color and the outsole comes in a „icy“ turquoise. The lining is also made of calf leather, while the insole is covered in goatskin what makes it incredibly comfortable to wear.
